2s: A terrible batting collapse saw us disintegrate from 120 for 3 to 134 all out. D Ashley 48 & J Toghill 30 the only contributors. Larkhall achieved the target inside 30 overs without losing a wicket. Scorecard Pitchpad
Andy & his demons
1s: A nothing game against Bath saw us lose by 7 wickets. DHCC scored only 148 & lost comfortably, but then again we're still champions! Scorecard Pitchpad Video
2s: Massive 267 for 7 sees off Bath IV with a 136 run victory, thanks to 82 runs from 28 balls from Q Booysen, who reached 50 from just 13 balls, & hit four 4s & nine 6s, & 54 from J Toghill. M Davey became only the second player to get two 5-fors in a season. Scorecard
Sun Ds: Box forfeited their game against Stone, meaning Stone were unable to get the 18 points they neded to improve their average enough to overtake us, so the Sun Ds win the VCL Div 3b title at their first attempt.
Tables
The NSCL Cup FInal on Bank Holiday Monday saw DHCC beat Wrington by 54 runs, M Millard (62 from 48) & R Elliott (79no from 49) seeing us make 177 for 3 from our 20 overs. Wrington toiled tirelessly but were never quite on the pace, ebding at 123 for 8 to make it 4 on the bounce for The Mighty Ds. Scorecard Pitchpad Video
The KO Cup-winning team
1s: A steady start built the perfect platform for M Millard & G Webb to take advantage, scoring 167 not out (a club record) & 94 respectively in a total of 319 for 2. Millard's 4th ton of the season (another record for the club) takes him to 874 League runs for the season (another record) & only 100 short of the D&H Career League Runs record. Mells were dessimated early & at 10 for 5 were always going to fall short, ending up being dismissed for just 70. We then popped up to 'The Field of Dreams' to watch Wrington's run chase, Bath having scored 223. Wrington achieved their target with 9 balls to spare, inflicting Bath's first defeat of the season, meaning DHCC are NSCL Champions for the third successive year. We now have 78 points, which already beats the 76 we scored last year, which was a NSCL Record for the most points scored in a season. I think we have a certain M Millard & some covers to thank for this! Looks like we'll be wanting at least 22 seats at the League Dinner! Scorecard Pitchpad Video
2s:No game for the 2s this week & it looks like Churchways will be coming up with us, although Larkhall could still make second spot if they win their last 2 games & Churchways lose their last one.
Sun Ds: Scored 236 against Stone, thanks to 53 from R Watkins & 61 from A Weeks. Stone needed 120 from the last 12 overs, & the scores were level with 1 ball to go, the last ball going for 4. We are still top of the table, but Stone have 1 game left (we've finished). According to my calculations, Stone need 18 points from their last game (vs Box) to overhaul us. Scorecard VCL tables
1s: Make it 6 wins in succession over Bear Flat with victory by 97 runs. G Webb hit 122 off just 91 balls in the Ds match winning total of 245 for 5, K Sibley 53, his 6th half century of the summer. Scorecard
2s: A comfortable 9 wicket win sees the 2s become the first side to secure promotion, securing the Division 3 title in the process. An under-strength Ston Easton were dismissed for just 68 runs, Q Booysen taking his maiden 5-for. The target was reached before tea for 1 wicket, R Watkins scoring 47 not out. Scorecard Pitchpad Video
Sun Ds: Beat Bradley Stoke by 56 runs, Y Ramadass making 77 in a total of 234. Bradley Stoke were restricted to 178. Scorecard
1s: M Millard became the first player to score three League tons in a season, making 129 in a total of 375 for 5. K Sibley 84 & R Elliott 82no. Saltford were then dismissed for just 104, being dismantled by A Lewis with his first 5-for of the season, ending with the phenomenal figures of 4-2-2-5. Scorecard
2s: Set just 128 to win, the annual poor batting display came to visit, losing by 52 runs. Fortunately Larkhall lost to GWR, so we're still 12 points clear of second place with just 3 games left, so 1 more point should see us as champions! Scorecard Pitchpad Video
NSCL Cup Semi - scored 150 vs Bristol, M Garland 47, winning by 16 runs. Let's try for 4-in-a-row at the FInal at Weston on Bank Holiday Monday. Scorecard Pitchpad Video
Sun Ds: Scored 234 against Almondsbury, with 50s from J England & Y Ramadass. Almondsbury were restricted to 216, an 18 run win. Scorecard
1s: A phenomenal groundwork effort meant we played one of only 2 games in the whole League, beating Backwell Flax Bourton by 9 wickets, G Giles 49no & M Garland 56no. We are now 3 points clear of Bath at the top of Division 1. Scorecard2s: Suffered from the weather, but are now just 4 points away from guaranteeing promotion & 8 from the title.
Sun Ds bowled out Tetbury for just 160 but struggled on a difficult pitch, only M Davey getting in to doube figures, going down by 102 runs. Scorecard.
The 1s hosted Combe Down & posted 286, G Giles scoring his first ton of the season (106no) & G Webb 70 from 37 balls. Combe Down never got close ending up 126 for 7. Scorecard. Pitchpad scorecard. Video
G Glies on his way to a Ton
The 2s visited GWR & posted 218 for 4, R Watkins batting the full 40 overs & getting his first League Ton (115no), D Pearce scoring 51. S Higgs then destroyed the GWR reply, GWR being dismissed in 27 overs for just 87 with S Higgs achieving the second best Club bowling figures in history with 7 for 37, receiving the Evening Post Player of the Week award. Scorecard
The 1s visited Stratton & restricted them to 171, A Lewis taking another 3-for. The target was achieved for the loss of just 2 wickets, M Millard top-scoring with 74 to take him past the landmark of 4000 1st Team runs, the first player to achieve this. However no bonus point puts us tied with Bath at the top of the table, but 2nd on the 'Head-to-Head' rule. Scorecard
The 2s lost their first game of the season. Churchways were 86 from 30 but 10 overs of poor fielding allowed them to post 181, & 55 for 5 was never going to be the platform we needed, falling 62 runs short, but we're now further clear at the top of the table as Harptree defaulted! D Pearce, with 45no, extends his 2009 2s League average to 141. Scorecard Pitchpad Scorecard
The Sunday game vs Box was cancelled due to the weather.
The 1's visited Wrington & made the brave move of declaring at 185 after 30 overs due to the impending rain, G Webb scoring 101. We then bowled Wrington out for 75 (another 4-for for A Lewis) in ever increasing drizzle to retake 1st spot in the League table due to Bath's game being abandoned 6 overs short of a result. Scorecard
The 2's win by default after OEBS cried off at 1.46 - they had been hoping for rain & 2 points each but it didn't come in time for them.
The SunD's visited Stone & lost by 5 wickets with 10 balls to spare, Y Ramadass top-scoring with 78. Scorecard Pitchpad Scorecard
Normal service is resumed with a 257 run thrashing of Old Bristolians. M Millard top scored with his second League ton of the year to set 326 for 6. Old Bristolians were then demolished for just 69 runs, A Lewis taking 4 for 13. Scorecard
The 2's remain 8 points clear at the top of Division 3 after setting yet another great score of 271. The 2's have exceded 240 in all but one of the games in which they've batted first. A Pearce top-scored with 94 from 58 balls. Midsummer Norton fell well short scoring 215. Scorecard.
The Sun D's bowled out Bradley Stoke for 158 thanks to 5 for 32 from E Combers. They then lost 2 early wickets to be 3 for 2 but a 134 run partnership between Y Ramadass & A Bush almost saw us home, but left it to R Elliott & G Button to finish the job. The Sun D's winning by 6 wickets, Ramadass top-scoring with 103, his maiden Ton for the Club. Scorecard. Pitchpad scorecard Video
The 1's 34 game winning streak finally ended at the hands of Bath III, G Webb top-scoring with 52 in a rain curtailed chase. Looks like setting the stage for a title-deciding last game of the season. Scorecard
The 2's scored a massive 290 for 3. R Watkins & J Toghill (promoted to No 3 due to the ever growing injury list) put on 197 for the 2nd wicket, scoring 80 & 113no respectively, james' maiden League Ton. On what must have been the pitch of the season so far, Bath IV were on target but a rain break in the 33rd over obviously broke their concentration as G Royce was out just after the resumtion for 96, Bath getting close finishing on 276 for 6 in an amazing game. Scorecard
The 1's manages 262 for 7 against Mells, M Millard top-scoring with 135, & R Elliott 54. Mells were restricted to 203 all out thanks to a 4-for from A Lewis. Scorecard
The 2's recovered from 87 for 8 to set a total of 180 against Larkhall. M Davey started the recovery with 34, followed by a spectacular 59 from J Hendy at No 10, sharing a 50 run 10th wicket partnership with A Weston. Larkhall, in reply, started strongly being 71 for 0 at drinks, but a sparkling second half saw DHCC bowl them out for 177. Scorecard
The Sunday League side recovered from the loss of 3 early wickets to get 180 runs thanks to 85 from T Rogers. Almondsbury were 165 for 5 but lost their last 5 wickets for 5 meaning the Sun D's won by 12 runs. 5 wickets for M Millard & 3 for T Rogers. Unfortunately the game was soured by a nasty injury to J Mitchell when the batsman edged a ball & Jack, standing up, was hit in the mouth. Scorecard
The 1's restricted Bear Flat to 184 all out, K Sibley with 3 for 36 & M Garland 4 for 37. M Millard top scored in the chase with 45, the game being won with a spectacular 6 from A Lewis with 5 balls to spare. Scorecard
The 2's had a similarly close game, bowling Ston Easton out for 153. The target was achieved with 7 balls to spare to win by 4 wickets. Scorecard
